Lizzie Armanto, one of the world’s best female skateboarders, is representing Finland at the Tokyo Olympics. The New Yorker has made a short film showing her preparing for that challenge.
Armanto has taken her fair share of slams, and she’s also landed some difficult maneuvers. In 2018, she became one of a handful of people, and the first woman, to successfully complete a gravity-bending journey through Tony Hawk’s three-hundred-and-sixty-degree loop, à la Hot Wheels.
You’d need guts to try that 360 loop - it’s great that female skateboarders are getting the recognition they deserve.
